Suede

July 16, 2002

Fanclub only, apparently. I loved the Wheel of Suede to choose old tracks. and the after party, weee! Nice to have the set split between new & old!

But here's the little bit I wrote for my Suede-a-holic friend, minus the aftershow party lowdown that was more for her sake than general consumption:

First set was about 40 minutes and entirely new music. Which was nice, but hard to get into if you don't know it (which nobody in the audience did). The one that sticks out for me from this set was "Beautiful Loser", which you should really download if you can..

They went offstage, and came back on for a hits set. Trash, Metal Mickey, Can't Get Enough, Beautiful Ones, and tons others I recognized but can't recall the names of this morning. About halfway through they brought out a big carnival wheel (like the kind you win pies on at the state fair), with different song names written around it. Brett got a girl from the audience to spin it, and they played what came up. The Drowners, Simon, My Dark Star, and others. Fun! Oh, and Brett himself turned butch! he's muscular and blond! *gasp* (although, I must say, he looks much older up close than he does on stage. I think he spent too much time in the sun at one point in his life...)
