Just got back from the Flick/Placebo/Stabbing Westward show at the 9:30 Club this weekend, and Placebo lived up to all of my expectations. The crowd was so definitely there for Stabbing Westward (judging by the 90:10 goths:glams and the god-awful band conversations in line: "Dude, Genitorturers rokk! I can't wait to see GWAR in a month, I'm putting metal spikes in my hair for that!!". no joke.). But the crowd was very accepting of Placebo, and it went well, which was better than I heard about the past tour with Limp Bizkit... Flick -- I know about 7-8 songs of theirs, and they only played one I knew. Odd. But they were good, harmonizing very well with the two guitarists, even though their keyboardist was a very scary crazed loner type. Placebo -- Played for a long time, like an hour and a half. No b-sides (except the piped "Ions" as they took the stage) but they played a good mix of both albums. Brian and Stefan were *incredibly* tight with their playing, and you could tell they were having a great time playing the audience, with Stefan being the ladies man all night, mouthing kisses to the girls in the front row, giviong a fag to the crowd, struttung his manly wiles, etc. Approx. Setlist (songs are correct, order isn't): Ions (not lived, but piped in) Scared of Girls Brick Shithouse Bionic ("This is a song a robot fuck!") You Don't Care About Us Without You I'm Nothing Allergic (To Thoughts of Mom) 36 Degrees Every You Every Me Bruise Pristine Nancy Boy Lady of the Flowers Pure Morning I didn't really care much about Stabbing Westward, so I ran outside with about 15 other girls and waited outside for the boys. Steve came out for a second to tell us they'd be back out later, so we waited about 90 minutes in the cold, but then Brian came out and signed (in a full-body down coat), didn't say much, but then Steve came back out as promised. Really nice guy. Our conversation: Him: "How'd you enjoy the show?" Me: "It was great! I was kinda disappointed you guys didn't play Slackerbitch, though." Him: "Oh, that's so old-school! We've moved on from that now..." Stefan quick ran into the bus, with a promise that he'd be back again, but I wanted to beat the rush home as Stabbing Westward was finishing their set, so I didn't get his signature...
