Poultry mutilations possibly involving paranormal phenomena
Field Report #2
Prepared by Special Agent Dana Scully
(Attached Expense Report:
1 whole Holly Farms chicken
1 box latex surgical gloves)
This case is rapidly becoming "curiouser and curiouser", as my partner would say. We interviewed Myra Ellen Amos today, with Agent Mulder taking the lead in the questioning. Unlike Reznor, who was uncooperative, Amos answered our questions fully, albeit nonsensically, making frequent references to faeries and restless spirits within the house. Agent Mulder aggravated the situation by encouraging her talk of supernatural forces. (See attached transcripts)
Amos claims, that, as a good friend of Reznor's, she was worried about his eating habits and his general health (Note: Reznor is somewhat underweight, and quite pale) and decided to make him a chicken dinner. Amos insists that she prepared the chicken in a usual manner, and put it in the oven to bake early in the evening. When asked why she left the chicken in the oven for six hours, she said that she couldn't recall the exact reason. Again, Agent Mulder suspects the missing time phenomenon, and also points out that Amos' unconventional conversational style is often a mark of frequent abduction and experimentation. I feel that the key to solving this case lies in the events that took place during the missing six hours.
I conducted a full examination of the offending chicken. It was (according to the packaging I retrieved from the garbage) a Holly Farms whole roaster, skin-on. There was some freezer damage. It had been prepared oven-fry style, covered with a cornmeal batter. On opening the body cavity, which had been stuffed with a butter mixture, I did discover more blood than is common, but that could be due to the period of time it sat in the oven unattended. I have turned the carcass over to the FBI forensic labs here in LA for testing.
We also collected evidence from throughout the house. Reznor was reluctant to give us complete access to the house, but eventually relented and returned to his recording studio to work while we conducted the search.
The amount of trace evidence we collected is overwhelming; blood, hair and what appear to be semen samples were collected from every room in the house, including the kitchen, and Agent Mulder found granules of cornmeal in the pool, which is currently drained. There was also-- more damning, to my mind-- a good deal of cornmeal within the sheets of Reznor's bed. When questioned about this, Reznor only shrugged and turned the volume up on his synthesizer. All samples collected have been sent to the FBI labs for typing and aging. Reznor refused our request for a blood sample. Ms. Amos allowed me to take both a hair and blood sample. Agent Mulder collected hair and saliva samples from Reznor's dog, Maise.
Agent Mulder wants to reconstruct the events of the evening. Amos agreed to cooperate, and managed to convince Reznor to take part as well. As I write this report, Agent Mulder is setting up recording and monitoring equipment, with Ms. Amos' assistance. She seems to identify quite strongly with Agent Mulder. Also assisting in the reconstruction is Reznor's assistant, Christopher Vrenna, who arrived during the evidence collection and appears to be interested in helping us solve this case. Indeed, the only resistance we have met has come from Reznor.
My next report will contain the results of the reconstruction. I have requested that copies of the results from the body fluid tests be sent to Assistant Director Skinner's office.
